New Jersey, it may be the home to Atlantic City, but it’s also the home to the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, located in Englishtown. At this venue, D1 Grand Prix made its first-ever stop at this road course. Previously only a demonstration of drifting was held at this track back in 2007. This time at the road course, drivers of the D1 ‘circus’ tested their drifting skills on the 1.35 mile course. The crowd made up for a packed house, since this show began late afternoon and finished up under the lights. Although 1 unique team, Team Orange, was not present, there were still many of the usual suspects at this event.
In the Super 16/Round 4, the lineup was as follows:
1 Forrest Wang, Full Race Nissan S13 240SX
2 Daigo Saito, Fnatz Pro Garage Toyota Chaser
3 Sal Campo, Nissan S13 240SX
4 Toshiki Yoshioka, Drift Speed Nissan S15 Silvia
5 Ken Nomura, Blitz/Dunlop Nissan R34 Skyline
6 Juha Rintanen, Yachtvault.fi Nissan S14 240SX
7 Dan Savage, D2 Racing Sports Nissan S13 240SX
8 Takahiro Ueno, Vertex Toyota Soarer
9 John Wagner, Maxxis Nissan S13 240SX
10 Harri Hokkanen, Martelius/Comp Turbo Nissan S14 240SX
11 Brian Wilkerson, R/T Tuning/Maxxis Nissan S13 240SX
12 Chelsea DeNofa, Secret Service/Nexen BMW E36 3 Series
13 Russell Walker, Dunlop/Tuning Concepts Nissan S13 240SX
14 Steve Angerman, NOS Energy Drink Nissan S13 240SX
15 Gary Lang, Spec Clutch/Hinson Super Cars Nissan 240SX
16 Will Parsons, Nonstop Tuning/Toxic Fabrication Toyota AE86 Corolla
In addition to the bikini contest there were several cars on display (both daily drivers and local racers) that brought smiles to those who attended. In the final four rounds there was only 1 American, Steve Angerman, the driver of the NOS Nissan S13/240SX and he was to race against Daigo Saito in his Fnatz Pro Garage Toyota Chaser. The other bracket was Takahiro Ueno with the Vertex Toyota Soarer who ran against Toshiki Yoshioka with his Drift Speed Nissan S15 Silvia.
The podium was as follows:
1st: Daigo Saito, Fnatz Pro Garage Toyota Chaser
2nd: Toshiki Yoshioka, Drift Speed Nissan S15 Silvia
3rd: Steve Angerman, Nissan S13 240SX
