RPM launched its new car show series with RPM Chicago, the first of 4 nationally scheduled shows for 2010 (Chicago, Irvine, Dallas and San Mateo). There were hundreds of cars, thousands of people and dozens of models in attendance.

DJ Pauly D, from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” was the headlining DJ.  He even came complete with his own tanning bed, which was used as a backdrop for photos with his numerous fans. DJ Alex Peace and the B96 FM crew handled the rest of the stage tunes. The RPM Girls, including Miss RPM Misa Campo, Corissa Furr and Jenny Chu were all at the show mingling with fans, signing autographs and posing for numerous photos.

Other activities included a live chassis dyno to let it be known that not all of the cars here were just show; some had hundreds of horsepower with plenty of “go”. There was also an RC drifting track, an SPL sound competition and a Step to the Mic. There was also a VIP lounge area back-side-stage with its own bar and a tanning lounge for Pauly D. For a slightly higher admission price, attendees could opt for a VIP ticket that gave them access to this private area and it was the only way to get pictures taken with Pauly D.

Despite some mixed weather, a few drops and about 10 minutes of rain, the show was very good. We are looking forward to the next RPM show in Irvine and it will have a lot more going on with motorcycle stunts, Funkmaster Flex, etc. It’s also in the sport compact car show capital of the world, SoCal.
